The Federal Art Collection

Das Werk «La Toilette» (1918) von Alice Bailly
This exhibition is available in

The Federal Art Collection is little known, even though the federal government has been collecting art—and later design objects—from Switzerland since 1890. Today, it comprises over 22,500 works. This largely hidden cultural heritage comes to life at the Aargauer Kunsthaus. Here, Swiss art from all corners of the country is on display. Spanning three floors, the exhibition tells the unique story of this collection—from the interplay between art and the state to its significance for Switzerland today.

With generous support from UBS, a partner of the Aargauer Kunsthaus
