This poetic group exhibition presents four positions from northern Italy that appeal equally to the emotions and the intellect, mediating between perception and concept. It brings together works from the 1970s by renowned Arte Povera artists with new works by a much younger artist whose œuvre has only unfolded in the 21st century. Once again, our museum proposes to rethink the supposedly historical term ‘concrete art’ on the basis of neighbouring positions.
The kaleidoscopic presentation establishes correspondences along the themes of nature, energy, myth and mimesis – hence the title False Marble and Glowing Stars. In each of the four positions, artistic gesture, the expressive potential inherent in the materials, and elemental experiences (such as with earth and water, fire and air, time and space) play a major role.
