Written by Igor Futerrer, the play "La Cigogne n'a qu'une tête" (The Stork Has Only One Head) tells the story of a group of friends in Alsace, de facto annexed to the Third Reich, between wait-and-see attitude, resistance and support for Nazism. The "La Broderie d'Alsace" exhibition takes up and expands the play in the form of storyboards illustrated by Nicolas Mengus, doctor of history and illustrator. A total of 1,660 drawings are produced to retrace the characters' destinies between 1939 (the evacuation of Alsace and the Drôle de Guerre) and 1953 (the trial of the Oradour-sur-Glane massacre in Bordeaux). Between these two dates, many facts of regional history are evoked.
in Limousin, daily life and resistance to the Nazi regime in de facto annexed Alsace and, of course, forced conscription.
