Anton von Klein, professor of "fine sciences" at the court of Elector Karl Theodor, used images to convey knowledge vividly. His extensive graphic collection, which came to the Kunsthalle in 1922, brings together masterpieces by European artists such as Albrecht Dürer, Hendrick Goltzius, Bernhard Rode and Giovanni Battista Piranesi. As the prelude to a series of exhibitions, "From Dürer to Piranesi. Prints from the Anton von Klein Collection in Mannheim (1746 - 1810)" presents the diversity in around 80 sheets.
