January 11, 2023 marked the bicentenary of the birth of Colonel Aristide Denfert-Rochereau (1823-1878). Well-known as the heroic defender of Belfort during the Franco-Prussian war of 1870-1871, he was the subject of a highly charged iconography, due to his political opinions, which ran counter to those of the army. Belfort's collections are used to renew the Museum of History's presentation of this visionary historical figure.
