THE SPACE OLYMPICS AT CITÉ DU TRAIN!

Ready to embark on an unprecedented mission between rails and stars?

On Saturday, May 17, 2025, on the occasion of European Museum Night, the Cité du Train - Patrimoine SNCF will take to the skies for a unique day - with night-time opening - of sport, science and intergalactic challenges!

As part of the m2A presidency of the Community of Ariane Cities, Europe's largest railway museum becomes a training center for budding astronauts and rail champions.

The aim: to defy gravity... and your own limits!

Take part in a series of fun and sporting events combining railway atmosphere and interstellar euphoria. Extend the experience with captivating lectures that will propel you towards infinity and beyond.

This 21st edition is all about challenge and conquest, with a special half-price entry fee (€8 instead of €16/adult - €6 instead of €12/child and still free for children under 4) to enable as many people as possible to celebrate this festive event.

ON THE PROGRAM :

Take on challenges worthy of a launch center:

To win, you'll need the highest score!

The black gold rush
Express coal shovelling to fuel your rocket train.
The train is about to leave! Watch out for the start
100-meter sprint with suitcases on the platform... you don't want to miss the takeoff!
Can you push 32 tons?
Use your gravitational pull to move a locomotive. Yes, a real one. Yes, 32 tons. No, it's not a simulation.
Top time, here comes a train!
be faster than lightning to trigger the crossing. Interstellar reflexes recommended.

Explore the mysteries of space with two great names in science:

Bruno Maquart, President of Universcience, the Palais de la Découverte and the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie - 2 pm to 3 pm
He'll talk about how we bring space to the general public.
Michel Chevalet, science journalist - 3 pm to 4 pm
He'll take you back to the extraordinary story of the Ariane rocket.

Conferences available on reservation only via the online ticketing service.

And for little cosmonauts?

An old-fashioned funfair atmosphere, with wooden activities for young recruits and future cosmic engineers.

Visitors can also take a trip through the Panorama Ferroviaire on board the Mini-Express d'Alsace*, seated in carriages towed by a miniature locomotive on rails! They can also try their hand at rail driving with a "baptême du rail "* on board a railcar.

A convivial experience for families and friends, where you can discover new things and surpass your limits.

*Weather permitting

Ready to embark? 3, 2, 1... Lift off!
Successful family mission
