Scenic tour about illness, plague and medicine around 1600
Felix Platter is a city doctor in Basel and professor of medicine. He anatomizes corpses in order to advance medical science. He treats the sick and keeps meticulous records of the many diseases he encounters on a daily basis. He can't cure everything, but in his house on Petersgraben, Platter keeps a collection of all kinds of special natural remedies from which he makes his medicines. But the biggest challenge is the plague, which strikes the city every twelve years or so. Even now, in 1610, Platter is busy around the clock due to the outbreak of the epidemic. But this time he wants to get to the bottom of the disease.
