In our latest CLIMATE Forum, Prof. Dr. Jochen Eckart from Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences provides insights into how more sustainable mobility can improve our quality of life while protecting the environment.
This is about more than just technology - the central question is how mobility can be designed in such a way that it meets people's needs without exceeding the ecological limits of our planet.
Although our current transportation system ensures a high level of mobility, it has a considerable impact on the environment - for example through greenhouse gas emissions and noise. The challenge is to improve the compatibility of transportation so that it can actively contribute to sustainable and liveable communities.
In his lecture, Prof. Eckart will show what concrete measures are needed to make mobility more environmentally friendly. He will also shed light on how social acceptance for change can be created - as a basis for sustainable cities and effective climate protection.
The event will take place in the rooms of the KLIMA ARENA
Prof. Dr. Jochen Eckart is Professor of Transport Ecology at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences. In his research and teaching, he focuses on sustainable urban transportation planning, the promotion of active mobility and adaptation to climate change. He is particularly interested in combining environmental sciences and transportation planning.
He holds a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of South Florida. He obtained his diploma in "Spatial and Environmental Planning" at the University of Kaiserslautern. Prof. Eckart has an international profile with stations at universities in Tampa (USA), Birmingham (UK) and Hamburg.
