The energy transition is a major challenge and is the subject of controversial debate in the media. Headlines such as "Without nuclear power, we will run out of light" or "As an industrialized nation, we will never be able to supply ourselves from renewable energies alone" are omnipresent and provide material for heated debates. It is even predicted that we will become an "electricity beggar" as a nation.
But what is behind the "dark doldrums & co"? Are these scenarios really as threatening as they are made out to be?
