Luis Barragán (1902–1988) is widely regarded as the most important Mexican architect of the twentieth century. A partnership between the Vitra Design Museum and the Barragan Foundation, which has looked after the architect’s professional estate since 1996, has made it possible for the Barragán Archives to move to new premises in the Vitra Schaudepot in 2022. The Barragán Gallery offers a multifaceted view of the architect’s life and work in the context of his time. Known for his minimalist yet sensuous treatment of space, colour and landscape, the Mexican architect masterfully merged innovative international currents with local traditions.
