The Cordelier Chapel in the historic city centre of Sarrebourg dates back to the 13th century and exemplifies a major part of the cultural heritage of the city. The windows were designed by Marc Chagall, among them a twelve meters high masterpiece, titled “Peace”.
Behind the chapel you can find a garden where you can listen to Chagall's poetry and interviews.

The tour continues to the Museum of Sarrebourg, its highlight is Marc Chagall's “Peace” tapestry, woven by Yvette Cauquil-Prince based on the preparatory model of glass painting at the UN (New York) in the Museum of Local History. “The Bible” illustrated by Chagall and archaeological collections of the area of Sarrebourg as well as earthenwares and porcelains from Niderviller are also showcased in the contemporary building of the museum. The tour invites visitors to a journey through the cultural heritage of the region Sarrebourg from Prehistory to Medieval Times.
