The historically important town of Glatt is located in the eastern part of the Black Forest. The centre of the town is dominated by the impressive castle, an attraction for visitors from all over the world. After an intensive renovation period, the Wasserschloss (Water Palace) was opened for visitors again in November 2001.

The Centre for Culture and Museum hosts four museums. The east wing presents the history of the castle and the village of Glatt, drawing special attention to the relationship between landowners and their people. The museum for nobility documents the history of the nobility in the Upper Neckar region and displays an armoury with an extensive weapon collection (Foundation Bidermann). The west wing is dedicated to the gallery of the Castle Glatt. The Kreis-Kunstmuseum exhibits pieces of the region Rottweil and the Upper Swabian electricity works related to the so called ‘Bernsteinschule' and ‘Karlsruher Neue Figuration'. The ‘Farmers' Museum' that was opened as early as in 1996 in the part of the building called ‘Zehntscheuer' presents items from farmers' everyday lives and handcrafted pieces from the Rottweil and Freudenstadt regions.
