Exclusive Evening Event at Kunstmuseum Bern on October 7, 2026

The Museums-PASS-Musées, in collaboration with the Kunstmuseum Bern, invites you on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. to an exclusive evening event.

Franz Gertsch (1930–2022) is considered the pioneer of photorealism and the master of modern woodcut. One of the most prominent Swiss artists of his time, he gained worldwide renown for his monumental works. Curated by the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in close collaboration with the artist and his family, the exhibition Franz Gertsch. Blow-Up was most recently presented at the Deichtorhallen in Hamburg. Following this European rediscovery, the exhibition is now coming to Switzerland, offering a comprehensive overview of 60 years of artistic creation. The approximately 40 paintings on display at the Kunstmuseum Bern trace Gertsch’s evolution: from his realist beginnings, through his nearly abstract works and iconic pieces dedicated to youth and the music scene of the 1970s, to his portraits, family portraits, and epic depictions of nature characteristic of his later work. Discover these paintings—which straddle the line between attention to detail and monumentality, close-up and distant views, and the human and nature during a guided tour.

After the guided tour, enjoy an aperitif to round out the evening in a relaxed atmosphere and chat with other pass holders.
