The museum is located in a former canon house from the 18th century and is home to the most important collection of faiences by the famous ceramist Théodore Deck (1823-1891). He was the administrative head of the National Porcelain Manufactory in Sévres and dedicated his research to the colour blue. More than 500 works displaying impressions of nature and the Orient bear witness to his amazing talent and to the courage of this man from Guebwiller, who exerted a formative influence in the history of the “fire arts”

The museum „Musée de France“ invites visitors to explore the collection of minerals and archaeology on five floors. Further sections are dedicated to the history of city development, the history of the principality Murbach, and the industrial development of the city in the 19th century.
