JAK is the main character affected by visual agnosia in the extensive film project Soul Blindness. While the projected film production is scheduled for 90 minutes in the script, the artist duo atelierJAK continues to develop video sequences, storyboard, set designs and props from exhibition to exhibition. The Spendhaus is now staging - and deconstructing - a new three-minute sequence. It picks up on the central theme of the main character, how people with soul blindness move in the visual everyday culture of our present day.
Due to his inability to recognize objects despite his intact visual functions, JAK becomes a proxy figure in discourses of perceptual psychology and phenomenology, which are central to atelierJAK's artistic practice.
