With his light and sound objects, the artist, designer and jazz musician Walter Giers (1937-2016) is one of the most important representatives of electronic art. As a pioneer of the first hour, he drove media art forward from the 1960s onwards. His carefully devised works unfold a mysterious life of their own thanks to integrated random generators and interactive technical systems. They bear witness to Gier's great creative imagination, his unbridled joy of experimentation and his fine sense of humor and irony. In addition to works from the Marli Hoppe-Ritter Collection, the exhibition in Museum Ritter's twentieth anniversary year also features numerous loans from the artist's estate.
