Vanitas

The exhibition explores works by contemporary artists that address a theme that has always been with humanity: transience, for the experiences of life, decay, and death are among the fundamental universal themes of human existence. The exploration of these themes is present across all artistic eras and can also be found in contemporary works. In this exhibition, ecological and aesthetic reflection is expressed in a particularly striking way through the comprehensive body of work “Metamorphosis” by the artist duo Silvia Eisele and Achim Großmann. This work is integrated into a dialogue with pieces by renowned contemporary artists who also explore the theme of transience. The diversity and variety of the works and materials through which contemporary artists explore the theme of transience offer visitors the opportunity to truly recognize the beauty of the ephemeral.
