To mark the 100th anniversary of the 1925 Paris Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes, the Musée de l'École de Nancy is presenting the 1920s wing of the former Corbin house. In 1922, Eugène Corbin decided to enlarge his home and turned to Art Deco for this new wing. This transition from Art Nouveau to a new style can also be seen in the Magasins Réunis de Nancy building, constructed in 1926 to replace the one destroyed in 1916. Documents and decorative elements from the 1920s wing will be combined with advertising tools and objects published by Les Arts Réunis in those years, for a department store that adapted to the tastes of its time.
This presentation will be accompanied by guided tours and events, in particular during the Journées de l'Art Nouveau organized on June 7 and 8, 2025, which will be dedicated to the transition from Art Nouveau to Art Deco, through the example of this residence and the Magasins Réunis in the 1920s.
