The exhibition features two artists who bring together the past and present of collage.
In a dialogue-based interplay, the exhibition brings together collages by Hans Gerber (1910–1987) and Sabine Hertig (b. 1982). Beginning in the mid-1950s and continuing for nearly two decades, Hans Gerber developed his own visual language—characterized by a sculptural approach to surface and form. Over 400 of his works are held by the Kunstmuseum Thun and are now being presented and contextualized anew for the first time since 1980.

Sabine Hertig has been using the principle of collage as an artistic mode of thought and practice since 2010. By relating individual fragments to one another and conceiving the big picture from the perspective of the detail, she simultaneously reflects on the contemporary media and visual landscape. At the intersection of analog visual material, artistic style, and digital imaging, the exhibition presents two artists who bring together the past and present of collage.

COLLAGE E-WORKSHOP
A collage workshop is located within the exhibition spaces. Inspired by the works on display, visitors can create their own collages, image fragments, and ideas in this open studio and meeting space.
