Sarah Morris. All Systems Fail

US painter and filmmaker Sarah Morris (*1967) combines abstract painting with questions about modernity and power. Morris is interested in the systems that permeate our lives and the modern society and how these systems manifest themselves in different cities and cultural contexts – from the architecture of large corporations to transport and digital infrastructure. The exhibition offers a comprehensive overview of the artist’s work, including her extensive cinematic oeuvre, which comprises 15 films dedicated to the dynamics of global metropolises such as Los Angeles or Beijing. These merge with painting to form an artistic unity.
