THE POETRY OF SPEED

Stefan Rohrer’s sculptures are shaped by his personal passion for cars. He breaks open the bodies of cars, motorcycles, or scooters, stretches and expands them by inserting sheets of steel, and transforms them into elegantly curved or arabesque-like, sinuous objects. In them, sequences of movement—as if captured in fast motion—seem to have materialized, telling the stories behind them. In his own words, Rohrer visualizes the thrill of speed—catastrophes included.
