Panamericana – Original Race Cars Set Against a Background of Historical Photographs

This exhibition is available in
German
The Carrera Panamericana was a legendary and extremely dangerous road race through Mexico that was held five times in its original form between 1950 and 1954. The race covered approximately 3,000 kilometers across the country—initially from north to south, and later in the opposite direction. Due to the extreme dangers on the unprotected public roads and serious accidents, the race was banned after 1954. Since 1988, the event has continued as a classic car rally for historic vehicles and race cars from that era on closed sections of road in Mexico. In our exhibition, we showcase original race cars that were used in the revived event in Mexico, as well as contemporary and historical photographs and film footage.
