From September 20 to October 18, 2026, discover the exquisite craftsmanship of the works by the Atelier des Marqueurs at the Maison Rurale de l’Outre-Forêt, and their guest of honor, Claude Philipps!
A master cabinetmaker and retired high school teacher of artistic cabinetmaking, Claude Philipps turned his attention in the 1990s to the exploration and development of contemporary marquetry—a woodworking art form rooted in an ancestral tradition well known in Alsace—which he seeks to reinvent through original creations. His work stands out for an approach in which wood becomes a true artistic language. He creates unique pieces using carefully selected wood species, playing as often as possible with the textures, contrasts, and natural nuances of the veneer.
Every Sunday afternoon, visitors can take a guided tour of the Maison Rurale de l'Outre-Forêt and watch a marquetry demonstration.
