In her artistic practice, Eva Peter explores the tension between representationalism and abstraction. The starting point for her work is the question of when a human body is perceived as such and when it dissolves into pure surface, form, and structure within the image. At the heart of her work is the moment when perception becomes unstable and the recognizable tips into the non-representational. Her works invite viewers to reconsider the relationship between physicality and abstraction and to question what remains of a figure when its unambiguity is lost.
