From smock to tie. From early to late, from here to there - clothing in everyday working life (18.09.2026-25.07.2027)
Weil am Rhein is characterized by movement, work and encounters. People work here in professions that connect and shape the region: Construction workers on large building sites, train drivers in international freight transport, police officers or care workers in retirement homes. Others are firmly rooted in Weil: farmers, craftsmen, nursery school teachers, retailers, administrative staff - they provide for everyday life here. The exhibition shows: Work in Weil is diverse, crosses borders and has changed over the course of time, thus also changing the appearance of the town. The work clothing worn also fulfills different functions; it can be protection, a status symbol or an expression of identity. The exhibition portrays working people from Weil am Rhein with current photos, personal stories and insights into their activities. It shows: Work in Weil am Rhein is diverse, visible, changeable - at home and on the move.
