Immerse yourself in the radiant worlds of color of Helen Frankenthaler (1928 - 2011) and discover a pioneer of modern abstract painting.

With around 60 paintings and works on paper, the exhibition reveals the creative power of one of the most important female artists of the US post-war period. Frankenthaler changed painting with her innovative soak-stain technique: using diluted paint, she created large-format compositions of enormous luminosity on unprimed canvas. The exhibition sheds light on Frankenthaler's development over five decades and provides the first insight into her intensive engagement with Western art history - from the Renaissance to modernism. Experience the diversity of her visionary work in the largest solo exhibition in Europe to date.
