The exhibition at the Städtische Galerie Fruchthalle offers an unusual perspective on the city’s art collection. Rather than focusing solely on art-historical classifications, it centers on personal encounters with the works: What makes a work of art unforgettable? Why do some images move us particularly deeply? What associations do they evoke in us?
Artists, cultural professionals, and art enthusiasts from Rastatt and the surrounding region have selected works from the collection with which they have a special connection or that particularly appeal to them aesthetically. The accompanying texts are sometimes serious, sometimes tongue-in-cheek, or even written in poetic form, thus opening up entirely new and individual perspectives on art.
The exhibition is conceived as a dialogue between art, the collection, and the city’s community. It invites visitors to explore the diverse resonances that art can evoke in people and presents the Städtische Galerie Fruchthalle as a vibrant space for encounter where multifaceted relationships between art and the public emerge.
Open Thu–Sat 12:00 PM–5:00 PM, Sun and holidays 11:00 AM–5:00 PM; closed Dec. 24–26 and Dec. 31, 2026
