Bivouac#33: Check-in Check-out

"Mr. and Mrs. Bond, 565 Fifth Avenue, New York, nice people - you a bit crazy - ordered the same rooms for next summer." One entry out of 22,000 from the guest register of the grand hotel "Waldhaus" in Vulpera-Tarasp. For decades, the staff kept a record of their own guests. All quirks, gripes and observations were recorded. For internal use only, of course. In 1985, the Grandhotel Waldhaus burned to the ground and an era came to an end - but the guest register survived. The last hotel manager, Rolf Zollinger, had kept it. In 2021, he published the card index in book form. The book is available in our store.

The "Check-in Check-out" exhibition shows a wonderful selection of the original index cards. At the same time, it takes us further into the digital 21st century. Times have changed. Today, guests rate their hosts bluntly on social media channels and the whole world is reading along. In the exhibition, we let hotel professionals talk about the hospitality of today.
