Iconic vehicles with 12-cylinder engines from 1933 to the present—featuring impressive paintings by Herbert Zangs
For more than a century, the twelve-cylinder engine embodied the pinnacle of automotive engineering. It is far more than just an engine—it has become a symbol of superior performance, technical sophistication, and automotive luxury.

Today, the V12 is part of the world’s industrial cultural heritage. Its incomparable smoothness, unique sound, and perfect harmony continue to fascinate car enthusiasts around the world to this day.

This exhibition features iconic vehicles from Aston Martin, Bentley, BMW, Ferrari, and Maybach, paired with works of art by Herbert Zangs.

Herbert Zangs (1924–2003) ranks among the most significant and, at the same time, unconventional artistic figures of postwar German modernism. As early as the 1950s, he developed his famous “Verweißungen”: he coated found objects, fabrics, papers, and everyday materials with white paint, transforming them into art. The works on display here, from the 1970s and 1980s, come from a particularly powerful phase of his career.

All of the exhibited works are from the collection of the Südwestdeutsche Kunststiftung.
