Content
Kurt Schwitters is one of the most influential and idiosyncratic protagonists of the artistic avant-garde of the interwar period and is still impressively relevant today. Schwitters. Grenzgänger der Avantgarde at the Zentrum Paul Klee is the most comprehensive exhibition that a Swiss museum has ever dedicated to his work. It traces the diversity of his oeuvre across all creative phases - from iconic Merzbilder, assemblages and collages to the walk-in replica of the Merzbau in Hanover and lesser-known portraits, landscapes and sculptures from his exile. The exhibition also shows examples of his graphic and literary work and his journalistic activities.
Discover a radical innovator and border crosser between the avant-garde trends of his time, who shaped generations of artists with his unmistakable synthesis of art, architecture, design and literature.
