Content

With Poetry of Light, the Museum Frieder Burda is celebrating one of the great pioneers of Abstract Expressionism: the painter, sculptor and photographer Richard Pousette-Dart (1916-1992). This is the largest exhibition to date of works by this important representative of American post-war modernism outside the USA. On display are paintings, sculptures, objects, drawings and photographs from more than six decades of work - including numerous works from private collections that are otherwise not accessible to the public. The 137 loans from 17 international collections include large-format masterpieces of Abstract Expressionism provided by the Brooklyn Museum, the Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. An exhibition of the Museum Frieder Burda, Baden-Baden, in co-operation with the Richard Pousette-Dart Foundation, New York.
