Evening event at the Museum Tinguely Basel 22/04/2026

18:30

On Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at 6:30 pm, the Museum Tinguely, in collaboration with the Museums-PASS-Musées invites you to an exclusive event on the special exhibition  "Carl Cheng: Nature Never Loses".

The exhibition Nature Never Loses highlights six decades of the visionary oeuvre of artist Carl Cheng, born in San Francisco in 1942, which refuses to be categorized. He lives and works in Santa Monica, studied fine art and industrial design and began his artistic career in the 1960s against a backdrop of political unrest, an interdisciplinary art scene, a booming space and aviation industry after the war and a rapidly changing landscape.

Cheng's life's work is being presented in its most comprehensive form to date, now in Basel after stops in the USA and the Netherlands. The exhibition was created in close collaboration with the artist and includes a large amount of previously unpublished archive material as well as artworks from his personal collection.

You can look forward to an exclusive guided tour (in German or French) through the exhibition followed by an aperitif in the museum bistro Chez Jeannot.
