With Prof. Christian Kropf, Head of Biosciences, Natural History Museum Basel 18:30 - 19:30, free admission
Spiders are the most important terrestrial predators among invertebrates. Thanks to their unique sensory abilities, their ability to spin webs and their use of venom to catch prey and defend themselves, they are masters of survival. Their mating behavior is among the most bizarre that biology has to offer. The lecture gives an overview of the biology of spiders and explains why these animals literally do not live in our world.

The lecture program of the Natural History Society in Basel (NGiB) conveys scientific research in all its disciplines. Find out more about the passions of amateur naturalists and well-known celebrities.

The lecture series takes place once a month during the university semester.
