With Prof. Dr. Pascal Mäser, Swiss TPH and University of Basel
The Covid-19 pandemic has made it painfully clear to us that infectious diseases can still turn our world upside down today. This was all the more the case before parasites such as viruses, bacteria or worms were recognized as pathogens. Join us on a journey through time and see how a mosquito defeated Napoleon, how the plague helped the printing press to make its breakthrough and what the mysterious St. Gotthard's disease was all about.

The lecture program of the Natural History Society in Basel (NGiB) presents scientific research in all its disciplines. Find out more about the passions of amateur naturalists and famous scientists.
