The highest dinosaur tracks in Europe can be found on Piz Ela in the canton of Graubünden, 3333 meters above sea level. But which dinosaurs reached this mountain peak, which researchers today can only reach by helicopter?
Silvan Thüring explains how the dinosaur tracks found their way to the summits and how such tracks are tracked down and scientifically investigated in Switzerland. He reads rocks like others read crime novels and is fascinated by the exciting stories they tell him. In 2022, he led the adventurous recovery of the highest dinosaur tracks in Europe on Piz Ela near Bergün.

The lecture program of the Naturforschende Gesellschaft in Basel (NGiB) conveys scientific research in all its disciplines. Find out more about the passions of amateur naturalists and famous scientists.
