Build your cooling tower
LEGO® workshop: electricity generation explained brick by brick!
A fun and collective experience to understand the role of a cooling tower in electricity production, through a construction game using LEGO® bricks.

The Musée Electropolis is offering a new and original family activity: team-building a cooling tower for a nuclear or thermal power station, using LEGO® bricks, accompanied by a simple and fun discovery of how electricity production works.

By manipulating the bricks, participants easily understand sometimes abstract notions such as heat, steam, turbines and alternators. They also discover why these tall towers let out a white column: not smoke, but water vapour that turns into a cloud when it comes into contact with the air.

In groups of five, each participant builds a part of the tower: the base, the packing, the right-hand side, the left-hand side and the top from which the water vapour rises. At the end of the workshop, all five elements are assembled into a complete cooling tower.
Designed for construction fans and curious youngsters alike, this animation is accompanied step by step by a museum mediator.

Come along and build your own cloud factory as a team!
