Like no other microorganism, the purple-brown ergot fungus with its ingredients has enabled the development of new therapies in medicine. In his exciting lecture, Dr. Frank Petersen provides insights into the unique history of the discovery of these substances, which revolutionized medicine as medicinal agents and whose mechanisms of action are still used in human therapy today.

The lecture program of the Natural History Society in Basel (NGiB) conveys scientific research in all its disciplines. Find out more about the passions of laymen and well-known scientists.

The lecture series takes place once a month during the university semester.
