"Oil in the forest, discovering a historic exploitation..."
La forêt de Haguenau
Des résurgences de pétrole brut naturelles
Forêt d'exception
Did you know that one of the first oil operations took place in northern Alsace, around Merkwiller-Pechelbronn and even in the undivided forest of Haguenau? It was the richness of the forest subsoil that gave birth to this industry, which lasted for around two centuries and left its mark on the region through its social and economic impact. A visit to the museum, followed by an outing in the forest, will enable you to discover the history of this industry and the traces that remain in the forest.
