At the foot of the fortress, the medieval garden of Haut-Koenigsbourg reveals a rich palette of flowers, herbs, roots and shrubs.
Accompanied by an interpreter, discover the characteristics of gardens in the Middle Ages and the different uses of plants, both cultivated and wild!
Inspired by the colours, smells, flavours and stories of some of the garden's chosen plants, take the time to create in this inspiring setting, guided step by step through the day's activities, and leave with your own creation.
*In July:
On 19 and 20 July, try your hand at the amazing technique of ecoprinting tannin plants on paper by baking.
On 26 and 27 July, select and then print tannin plants on a small fabric bag by hammering.
*In August:
On 9 and 10 August, make a herbarium plate based on the Great Hours of Anne de Bretagne using plant juices.
On 23 and 24 August, try your hand at cyanotype, a photographic process that will allow you to keep a record of the most beautiful leaves in the medieval garden! This activity requires sunny weather and will be replaced by tannin plant printing in the event of cloudy weather.
