> GLASS MUSEUM
The Musée du Verre unveils its prestigious collections, retracing the glassmaking epics that have marked the region's history and the exceptional work of Emile Gallé, who worked in Meisenthal between 1867 and 1894.
> "STUDIO GLASS, a breath of freedom" exhibition
A collection of contemporary glass / Musée du Verre de Meisenthal
In the early 1960s, freedom-loving glassmakers emancipated themselves from the framework of industrial production and reclaimed glassmaking skills in studios, small independent workshops.
> "THE LAST BREATH
EXHIBITION by designer François Azambourg (F)
The Moulothèque de Meisenthal brings together a vast repertoire of molds collected from regional glassworks that are no longer in existence. Some of these wooden molds, exhausted by the ravages of time, are now crippled and out of use. To save them from their foretold fate, designer François Azambourg mended them and invited them to undergo a final trial by fire. The resulting pieces are touchingly authentic. Inhabited by the wounds of their dies and presented with their original molds, they parade proudly to tell the story of glassmaking past and present.
> THE IMPROMPTUS
FLASH VISITS
For a surprise interlude, our mediators offer Impromptus, short presentations based on the exhibition "STUDIO GLASS, a breath of freedom" and the collections presented in the Musée du Verre.
Random program announced on site
General public / Duration: 5 to 10 minutes
> ADMIRE THE WORK OF OUR BUDDING ARTISTS!
Presentation of schoolwork produced by 4th graders from Lemberg secondary school and stained glass artist Mylène Billand, as part of the "Constellation" art project carried out over the course of the year. The young creators created a stained glass window in six parts, each representing a glassmaker's tool.
You can see the mailloche at the Site Verrier de Meisenthal, and the other parts of the stained glass at the Musée Lalique and La Grande Place - musée Saint-Louis.
Installation visible in the panoramic room on the 1st floor of the Boutique.
> GLASSBLOWING DEMONSTRATION
A team of glassblowers will perform their hypnotic ballet for the public, unveiling the thousand and one secrets of molten glass transformation through guided demonstrations.
> MODEMA
In situ musical and visual performance by François Delamarre (F)
François Delamarre, musician and artist, reinvents the use of materials and objects to create astonishing and hypnotic optical, sound and mechanical systems. Using the Modema device, consisting of a modular synthesizer, light sources and rotating plates, he transforms glass material into light projections and music.
For the Nuit des Musées, François Delamarre will set up his fabulous machines in the heart of the CIAV workshops for a unique set made from objects produced before your very eyes by the glassblowers.
His visual and audio narratives will shake up our perception, offering us timeless, poetic and dreamlike moments.
From 8pm to 11pm
In the workshops of the Centre International d'Art Verrier
