From the Roman estate in Hölstein (BL) to the Roman house in Augst
70 years ago, an original Roman mosaic was laid in the dining room of the Römerhaus. It originally came from the bathing building of the Roman estate in Hölstein and is almost 2000 years old. It was found by chance in 1947 while searching for a water source and was then excavated, recovered in two parts and brought to Augst. The now damaged mosaic is currently being restored. We invite you to view the ongoing restoration work, ask questions and learn about the history of this interesting find.
