Romulo Kuranyi conveys a world of apparent contrasts and contradictions. His painting is closely linked to his life story. The son of a Parisian-born artist and a Brazilian writer, he has always lived in a multicultural world full of color and emotion. Indigenous influences are as visible as the ornamental colorfulness of a Henri Matisse. In his paintings, portraits, plants and abstract forms intertwine to form a tapestry whose elements blend together and give his art a powerful vibrancy. It is an art that captivates the viewer and yet wants to achieve only one thing: to tell of the beauty of life. Or as Romulo Kuranyi puts it: "My art is an emotional love story".
