Bernhard Aubertin (1934-2015) worked in monochrome with red paint from 1958. From the early 1960s, Aubertin showed his works in public and became known for his performative use of fire, particularly as a member of the Düsseldorf Group Zero. Nine years after his death, this artist is to be commemorated with a major collection exhibition and a new look at his work is to be ventured. If this is taking place at the Kunstmuseum Reutlingen | konkret, it is because the French-born painter found ideal working conditions here thanks to the special connection with the Foundation for Concrete Art. These enabled him to work undisturbed and produce his largest serial works from 1988 to 2008 during his "période de Reutlingen". In addition to early works from 1958 onwards, the exhibition Rouge et plus shows various of these large series of works, but above all that Bernard "le rouge" can by no means be reduced to red.
