The lady with the twig - lecture by Dr. Martin Kemkes on a relief of a god in the Rastatt City Museum

The lecture is part of this year's series of events on archaeology on the Upper Rhine
Events
Teilstück eines Götterreliefs in der Dauerausstellung
A small relief in the archaeology section of the city museum shows a female figure with a branch in her hand. Who was the lady and what is depicted here? The lecture by Dr. Martin Kemkes (Archäologisches Landesmuseum - Zentrales Fundarchiv) aims to unravel this mystery and at the same time broaden our view of the religious conditions in the Upper Rhine region at the time of the Romans. The supposedly uniform Roman religion turns out to be a dynamic system with Roman, Celtic and Germanic influences - religion as a reflection of a multicultural society.
The lecture is part of this year's series of events on archaeology on the Upper Rhine, organized in cooperation with the Rastatt City Museum and the Central Archaeological Archive of the Baden-Württemberg State Archaeological Museum.

Attendance free of charge, no registration required.
