The works of Markus Fräger show persons in everyday situations. Often located in interior rooms, they are standing and sitting in the living room, at the bar and in the museum. The protagonists are involved in conversations or absorbed in themselves, only rarely do they look directly at the observer, on whom these situations have the effect of film stills. The photographic momentariness and the accompanying intensity of moods in the painted rooms are characteristic of the pictures of Markus Fräger.
The artist was born in Hamm in 1959. He studied History of Art and Archaeology at the Wilhelms-Universität Münster under Professor Georg Kaufmann and Professor Dr Werner Fuchs. He lives and works in Cologne.
