In the centre of the old town of Basel you can find the house ‘Zum Sessel'. It is the former residence and workshop of the printer Johannes Froben, where his friends Paracelsus, Erasmus, Holbein and Dürer were regular guests. The museum showcases historical European and overseas pharmaceuticals, amulets, laboratory equipment, beautiful ceramics, instruments, house and travel first aid kits, books, art and handicrafts. In addition, several reconstructed pharmaceutical laboratories from the 16th, 18th and early 19th century can be visited. The Pharmacy Museum is part of theUniversity ofBasel and hosts one of the largest and most important collections in the history of pharmacy. The museum contains a scientific collection of the 1920s, which is well preserved and has been continuously extended. An antique-style pharmacy is home to the museum's shop and herbal shop.
