The State Museum of Mining Baden-Württemberg, Sulzburg grants a comprehensive insight into the miners' world over the course of centuries. The exhibition covers the history of jasper mining, which started in the early Stone Age as well as the mining industry's overall influence on arts and culture. The museum focuses in particular on the history of ore mining that has been present for more than 2,000 years in the Black Forest, as well as on the history of salt mining, which is still an important industry in the region. In addition to a rail model, visitors can see various tools, transportation means and lamps. A selection of minerals demonstrates that natural resources can be not only useful but also beautiful.
