The museum is partially accessible to visitors of limited mobility (contact the Rohan Palace's lodge, located under the porch to your right).Established in the late 19th century in the Rohan Palace's basement, the Archeological Museum is one of the richest "National Antiquities" Museums in France. Reopened in 1992 after a complete museological reorganization of its collection, here, one is invited to discover the oldest details concerning Alsatian history, from Prehistory (-600,000 years) to the dawn of the Middle Ages (800A.D.).Its collection is regularly enriched thanks to archeological excavations conducted in Strasbourg and Alsace under the aegis of the Regional Service of Archeology. Temporary exhibits presented each year keep visitors up-to-date on archeological events in the region, making the Archeological Museum a living showcase for French archeological research in the heart of Rhenish society.
