Visual Wonders. Trickery, Deception and Illusion

Humans have been fascinated by optical illusions for hundreds of years. Through many eras of media and art history, inventors and artists have created devices and works that suspend the borders between reality and imagination. From the 18th century onwards, panoramas set a milestone in the creation of illusionary worlds. For the first time, the audience was able to experience itself as an integral component of the situation portrayed. Virtual reality is by no means a modern invention. In today's world, a flow of new technologies sustains our fascination for the world of optical illusions - analogue and digital.
