Time, Control and Freedom - Johannes Bürk and the Consequences

The exhibition presents Johannes Bürk on the occasion of his 200th birthday. It takes us through the history of control clocks and shows how Schwenningen kept the time of the industrial society. Here all the time clocks and time stamp clocks were produced that helped to implement punctuality and efficiency. The constant acceleration, however, was not limited to the world of work. The exhibition shows how more and more new devices kept collecting more data on the employees up to the present day and finally came to determine everyday life. In the "Room of Thoughts", the theme is reflected through contemporary artworks and cultural-historical objects.

In cooperation with the Städtische Galerie Villingen-Schwenningen.
